I'm a librarian, blogger, dog lover, cat lover, science fiction fan, student of history, and enthusiast of facts and information of all kinds. I love tracking down the answers to odd questions, and connecting people with the information they need. My professional background includes law firms, biotechnology R&D, and academic and public libraries.


I also create and deliver presentations to educate users on better use of the web, electronic resources, and some of the tools available to us at our fingertips to make our lives more organized and effective.


Some highlights from my professional background:

Scientific Information Specialist
Ipsen, Milford, MA
Conducted scientific literature and patent searches, evaluated current journal list, and transformed physical library to a "virtual" library. Managed local subscriptions and coordinated Group journal subscriptions. Led the deployment of document delivery tools and training of users. Managed ordering papers and materials in line with the general rules established for copyright compliance.

Public Services Librarian
Bunker Hill Community College, Boston, MA   
Librarian conducting information literacy workshops, performing collection development, and overseeing technical services for community college with a 9600+ student body.         

  • Participated in the expansion, promotion, marketing, and implementation of course-integrated library instruction program using interactive Web 2.0 tools.
  •  Developed, planned, and conducted classes in information literacy and effective use of library resources for students at all levels of academic achievement at a community college library.

Librarian
BASF Bioresearch Corporation, Worcester, MA
Responsible for all aspects of library management and meeting the information needs of research, production, and administrative staff, including cataloging, reference, interlibrary loan, online searching, acquisitions, and subscriptions management.                 

  • Provided reference services in biotechnology, biomedical, pharmaceutical, chemistry, and general business and scientific subject areas for biotechnology R&D library.
  •  Organized symposium on chemistry information in biology databases for American Chemical Society annual meeting, with librarians and scientists from two continents and three countries as participants.

In my personal time

I enjoy spending time with and taking care of my dog, Addy, and my cat, Aquavit. Addy is a five-year-old powderpuff Chinese Crested, and Aquavit is thirteen-year-old Maine Coon. They both enjoy using the cat tree!
